Efficiency Analysis of Pakistan Railways: A Policy Brief
Pakistan Railway, once profit making state-owned enterprise turned into loss making entity over the period of four decades. The governance failure and political intervention has declined an efficient enterprise which is now a burden on Pakistan economy. As (Ahmed, 2021) argued that Pakistan Railway has suffered Rs. 1.19 trillion losses in the last three years. In the year 2018-19 Pakistan Railway has suffered a loss of Rs. 32.7 billion, Rs. 50.15 billion in 2019-20 and 36.28 billion in the initial eight months of the fiscal year 2020-21.
